Ex Dodgers hitting coach Mark McGwire joins Padres staff

SAN DIEGO -- One-time home run king Mark McGwire has been named bench coach of the San Diego Padres.McGwire's hiring was announced Wednesday by new manager Andy Green.McGwire had been hitting coach of the Los Angeles Dodgers for the last three seasons.In 2010, McGwire admitted he used steroids when he broke baseball's home run record in 1998.
