All-Star closer Kenley Jansen returned to the mound with a regular heartbeat but an irregular result on Monday night. Jansen allowed back-to-back home runs two pitches apart to Jedd Gyorko and Matt Carpenter leading off the ninth inning and took the loss as the Dodgers were shocked by the Cardinals, 5-3, slipping 2 1/2 games out of first place in the National League West, their largest deficit since July 1.
